Electioneering Locations

During the time a polling place is open for voting, a person may not electioneer for or against any candidate, measure, or political party within 100 feet of an outside door through which a voter may enter the building where voting is taking place. Individuals cannot advertise by signs, personal belongings, or hold political meetings in the LBJ Student Center during the voting period (Election Code § 85.036). Please be aware that individuals who do not adhere to these guidelines will be asked to leave university property.

The Department of Student Involvement designates one or more places near the polling place where people may place signs for or against any candidate, measure, or political party. As provided in state law (Election Code § 62.013), these signs must be at least 100 feet from the outside door through which a voter may enter a building in which a polling place is located. In order to accommodate all signage, the Department of Student Involvement may limit the number of signs that may be placed in the designated areas by electioneers to allow adequate space for all who would like to post signs.

The Department of Student Involvement has designated the following spaces as electioneering sites for polling at the LBJ Student Center. Each section will describe the type of electioneering (human signs, yard signs and self supporting signs, and tabling) allowed in each space and will include a map notating where each type of electioneering may take place, marked with a colored circle.
